June 22nd to 25th
Campers had another amazing week of camp. This week's biblical focus was on "Faith". Youth were taught the importance of having faith. Some youth shared why they have faith and how God has showed up in their life.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1)
This week campers learned the importance of Gun Safety from our RPSO.
All youth 6th to 12th grade were taught the basic rules for Gun Safety.
Rules for Older Youths and Teens
Once children are old enough to handle firearms safely under adult supervision, they must master the "Four Rules of Gun Safety".
- Always treat every gun as if it is loaded: Never assume a firearm is safe just because someone told you it is.
- Never point a gun at anything you do not intend to destroy: Only point at approved targets at a safe shooting range.
- Keep your finger off the trigger: Your trigger finger should remain entirely outside the trigger guard until you are actively aiming at the target and ready to shoot.
- Be sure of your target and what is behind it: Bullets can pass through walls and objects, requiring full awareness of the environment.
Campers enjoyed a movie at The Grand Theater- Alexandria, and participated in various indoor/out door activities on site and off.
Some campers had a cooking class making their favorite snack filled with "sweets" but healthy trail mix. Campers learned how to make pizza using their favorite toppings and can biscuits!
Other activities included, a visit to England Airpark Fire Department & LSUA. Some campers had an opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering at the local Food Bank. Youth learned humility, empathy, and effective teamwork all while displaying leadership.
